Isa K.’s Craftsmanship and Technique
Isa K. creates unique pieces from her two studios in Terrasson-Lavilledieu. Her creative process centres on two main styles:
Aluminium work (Vespa and Converse):
Hand-cutting: In her first studio, she sketches and cuts out her designs by hand from large aluminium sheets, using specialist tools (saws, sanders, Dremel, etc.), which makes each piece absolutely unique.
‘Mirror’ effect varnish:
The varnishing is carried out by a bodywork specialist in Brive-La-Gaillarde, who specialises in classic cars. Multiple layers of automotive varnish, with sanding in between, give the work a deep resinous finish that enhances the colours.
Depth effect:
The installation of a specialised hanging system casts shadows on the wall, accentuating the 2D or 3D effect of the pieces.
Abstract works:
Whether on canvas or aluminium, his abstract creations are painted using SENNELIER fine and extra-fine oil paints (applied with a brush and palette knife), employing techniques of flat colour and glazing.
They are then showcased in wooden American-style frames (painted black or finished with natural oil) to create a perfectly harmonious whole.
Bespoke creations:
Isa K. also offers to create personalised Converse trainers and Vespas, or any other aluminium pieces to order (quote provided in advance).
